The foundation of the MMCS curriculum is joy, security, and emotional intelligence. We infuse academics with movement, art, and the natural world. Our curriculum includes gardening, knitting, cooking, and cooperative games.
MMCS uses a Compassionate Campus approach as the framework for all aspects of our school experience, focusing on modeling and teaching children positive and productive strategies for managing life's daily social interactions.
Our teachers and families lie at the heart of nurturing the children and strengthening them as lifelong learners. The adults develop their own well-being, and build traditions and practices that support our community school.
We have identified Singapore Math as a “natural fit” for our school’s curriculum with its immersion to mastery approach, focus on mental math, developmental appropriateness, focus on creative, divergent thinking and academic rigor.
Singapore Math is used both in elementary and middle school classes here at Mountain Mahogany Community School. The program was adopted over 4 years ago by the faculty and has been implemented with fidelity yielding positive results. If you would like to know more about Singapore Math please contact the curriculum coordinator at (505) 341-1424.
