We need several official documents translated from English into Spanish and are looking for someone to complete this task. (Charter schools do not qualify for the use of APS Translation services.) We will be paying for this service, but if you would like to dedicate your 3 hrs/mo to this task, please let us know.

The Intercultural Education Committee (IEC) will meet on Wednesday 11/4 @ 3:15- 5pm. The agenda includes discussing curriculum ideas from the National Association of Multicultural Education Conference (which all the teachers are attending next week in Denver) and focusing on how to best support/connect with families currently enrolled at MMCS. The IEC is open to everyone at MMCS. Please contact Genny O'Herron (Kinder teacher / chair of Intercultural Education Committee).
PBS will re-broadcast Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick? on 10/27 and 11/3 @ 10pm. This documentary examines the impact of place and race on health. It provides valuable information to understand how student health can impact their academic success.

Before care option!
I am excited to share that we have established a relationship with the childcare center across the street, Casa Alegre to support our before care needs. I went over yesterday and met Louise Romero, owner, to discuss before care and we came up with a solution. If you need before care, and would like to register your child at Casa Alegre, MMCS will provide a designated person to pick them up at 8:15 and bring them across the street to school. Your family would pay the center separately and adhere to their registration requirements. Please call the center at 294-8344 to explore this option. Then, provide the documentation to our office and the days in which your child will need to be picked up.
If your child is interested in a Marimba class on Monday afternoons in the MMCS neighborhood please call Naomi Julian @ 345-9208. The class is $25 a month.
Lost and Found
Please check the Lost and Found by Tuesday 10/27. After this date we will donate items to a clothing bank.
Printing Policy was approved!
This policy was approved by the Governing Council last night, “In order to conserve resources and foster our commitment to the environment, Mountain Mahogany Community School will send all school-wide documents electronically and provide printed materials to the oldest or only student from a family. A family wanting to receive school-wide documents by electronic version only will complete a form in the office to opt out of paper copies.”
